A typical camp assistance team is made up of 2-3 CampsAbroad representatives who train camp staff on site. We have many experienced camp leaders who volunteer, and the make up of each team varies from trip to trip. Below are some of the key people who minister with CampsAbroad.

Dan & Amy Brooks

BrooksDan and Amy’s love for The Wilds began in the 1970s as campers. Dan’s burden for reaching youth through camping started as a teen when he went on his first mission trip to work at a camp in Nova Scotia, Canada. During his college years at Bob Jones University he worked at The Wilds on weekends and spent three summers counseling at Camp CoBeAc in Michigan. After graduating in 1985, he started working full-time on program staff at The Wilds. One of his first responsibilities was with wilderness camp, which helped develop his love for rugged outdoors camping. Dan met his wife Amy at The Wilds, and they have been serving there together for more than 25 years. Dan Brooks was the youth director at Bethany Baptist Church in Brevard, North Carolina, for almost 5 years. As the Lord has increased the opportunities for CampsAbroad, the need for an assistant director became apparent. In 2007 Dan stepped into this role, having already represented CampsAbroad in several countries. All three of the Brooks’ children are married and they have six grandchildren.

Matt & Kelly Collier

ColliersThe Lord has uniquely prepared Matt and Kelly Collier for the ministry of CampsAbroad. Matt Collier grew up at The Wilds Christian Camp. Kelly grew up in a Christian home and with her father being a career army officer, spent most of her childhood overseas. Matt and Kelly both graduated from a Christian university in 1997. From there they moved to Missouri, where Matt attended seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 2001. During those years, the Lord opened up many opportunities to travel and work with camps around the world. In 2000, The Wilds Board of Directors saw the need for a ministry to help camps internationally and voted to establish CampsAbroad, a mission arm of The Wilds, as a resource for missionaries and nationals seeking to use camping to reach young people. Since 2001, the Colliers have represented CampsAbroad in the U.S. and have also been privileged to travel all over the world, consulting and ministering with young people in over 40 countries. The Lord has given Matt and Kelly three children: Gabe, born in March of 2005; Jeriah, born in September of 2010 and joining the Collier family in March of 2012; and Levi, born in December of 2012.

Tim & Rachel Endean

Tim & Rachel EndeanTim and Rachel joined the team in 2018 as field representatives, and they are excited to be working with young people all over the world. They both grew up in New England and benefited from attending Christian camps as teenagers. Tim counseled for parts of five summers at Christian camps, including The Wilds of New England, and Rachel served in a variety roles at The Wilds of New England for four summers and several fall camps. In 2016 Tim received his MA in Ministry Studies from Bob Jones University. After he graduated, Tim served young people by working in publishing as an editor of junior high Bible textbooks, while Rachel finished her degree in Christian ministries. Even before they joined CampsAbroad, Tim and Rachel enjoyed ministering to teens in a variety of ways—most recently as the youth leaders at University Baptist Church in Clemson, South Carolina.
