Camp History

Eric Chapman started as a church planter back in 1993 in the Russian area of Moldova. Between 1993 and 1997, Eric and his wife, Stephanie, started four churches. Those works now have national pastors and are doing well. Eric still ministers to those churches by encouraging and overseeing the pastors. He is also involved in working with street orphans in Moldova. There are about 50,000 such kids in Moldova. Eastern Europe is full of such problems and the only answer is Christ. The Chapmans and a brother missionary in Romania have started a missions outreach in Malawi, Africa. They staff the mission with Moldovans and Romanians as missionaries. They will be working with children and have plans to start a full-time camp ministry there as well. At this time, they are starting two new churches in villages near the camp. Some of the counseling staff gave up their Saturdays to hold Bible clubs in the villages near the camp. Many children and some of their parents were saved. For all of the above, Eric and his family give God the glory.

CampsAbroad Involvement

This was one of the first official CampsAbroad trips. In 2000, Matt Collier visited the campsite to assist in training the staff for the summer-long camping season. The materials were received well and applied, and the Lord called over 30 young people into full-time Christian work during the first camp week. We have kept in contact with the Chapmans, but our continued involvement has not been necessary as they have done a great job making the camp effective in Eastern Europe.
