CampsAbroad Involvement

Camp Reports / Testimonies

“Sometimes you just have to see it for yourself.” That’s what Ovidio said in reference to his visit to The Wilds Christian Camp in 2004. It was during that visit that the Lord allowed us the privilege of meeting and starting a valuable friendship with Ovidio, Gabriel and Chicha. They were guests of The Wilds during our annual Staff Training Seek and the first week of camp. A number of other camp directors from various Spanish-speaking countries were also in attendance, and we were able to have the services and sessions translated into Spanish. During these visits, we pack as much in as possible: from counseling sessions to personal meetings with various staff members, to extra meetings for the discussion of camp philosophy—they see it all. Little did we know how the Lord was going to use a simple visit to set greater events in motion. It was not until the following year that we learned what had been going on at Camp Emmanuel. I still have a copy of the EMU newsletter from March 2005, containing the article “An Unbelievable Change.” By faith, the camp leadership had taken some major steps forward in a very short time. The changes were sweeping and have touched every major area of the camp ministry: philosophy, people, program and place. Not all of the changes have been easy, but it seems to me that God has been rewarding their faith!

Because of your love offering I could come to Emmanuel Camp. Even though I have been attending church for many years, this time the Lord showed me sin in my heart. I asked the Lord to forgive me and now I am sure I belong to Him.” — Andrea

My name is Andres and I am very thankful for you giving me the opportunity to come to Camp Emmanuel. Coming to camp helped me to learn and to reconcile with the Lord Jesus since I accepted him as my personal Savior. — Andres

My soul has been enriched with the Word of God and I hope to continue growing spiritually. I want to come near to God, and to please Him all the time, and I want to do His will. May God use me in His work and I want to be faithful until I die.” — Luis (saved in the jail ministry of one of the churches.)
